Eastern Conference Predictions for October 2026
Bold predictions and even bolder confidence.
For the first time in a very long time, the east looks like it’s the conference to watch for this upcoming NBA season.
Each month I’ll be going through the rankings and making my guesses as to what I think the final seeding will be for the Eastern Conference at the end of the 2026-2027 regular season. Updated rankings will be posted on the first of each month until April. I’ll try to provide explanations for a few of the outliers when necessary, also.
It is worth noting that I am super amateur at basketball analytics and this is entirely for fun.
| Seed | Team |
|---|---|
| 1 | New York Knicks |
| 2 | Indiana Pacers |
| 3 | Philadelphia 76ers |
| 4 | Cleveland Cavaliers |
| 5 | Boston Celtics |
| 6 | Miami Heat |
| 7 | Washington Wizards |
| 8 | Detroit Pistons |
| 9 | Atlanta Hawks |
| 10 | Toronto Raptors |
| 11 | Charlotte Hornets |
| 12 | Orlando Magic |
| 13 | Milwaukee Bucks |
| 14 | Chicago Bulls |
| 15 | Brooklyn Nets |
Indiana Pacers: Tyrese Haliburton is back, and seemingly at 100%. With a straight-up better squad than they took the Thunder to Game 7 with, I expect that Ivica Zubac will elevate this team to a new height in the regular season.
Miami Heat: I do not expect much from the Heat this season. Giannis and Bam look like a fun combo, but that roster has next to no depth. I do not expect them to do well in the playoffs, even if they have a decent regular season.
Washington Wizards: The rebuild looks like its close to over for the District. I have insane faith in Trae Young and AJ Dybantsa, and not to mention a potentially fully-healthy Anthony Davis.
Detroit Pistons: The Pistons have traded away some of the key pieces that gave them success last season, and after flaming out in the playoffs while holding the 1-seed, I expect a regression in their performance.
Toronto Raptors: Kawhi could not get anything going on the Clippers, even when he was surrounded by talent. Darko Rajaković hasn’t won in the playoffs as head coach, either, and the conference is sure to be a bloodbath.
My team to keep an eye on this month: The Washington Wizards.
